What are good flowers to get for a man’s funeral? Or is a plant better?

Question by Lubyloo: What are good flowers to get for a man’s funeral? Or is a plant better?
The father of a friend of mine just passed away and I was going to send flowers for the “celebration of life” (which I guess is a memorial service??). I was wondering whether to get flowers or a plant. He was a big Minnesota Vikings fan and I found a floral arrangement with Vikings colors, but maybe that would be insensitive to send that. Any suggestions on flowers for a man’s funeral would be great. Thanks.

I work at a nursery and we frequently sell trees to loved ones who wish to plant them in honor of the deceased. Since the gentleman was a Vikings fan, could I recommend a Minnesota Redbud tree?
An evergreen of any type would be appropriate for a man as well.

  1. Todd says:

Flowers are always appropriate. Unless it is something outlandish, most people are more concerned with the moment, and not so much the color of the flowers. You can always call the local funeral home who is handling the burial to see if there are special requests from the family. A reputable florist who delivers nationwide can also make appropriate suggestions.
