Can you be a personal assistant without a deegree?

Question by Chiquitrix: Can you be a personal assistant without a deegree?
how do i get to be a personal assistant lets say for a famous or important person… like a famous designer or something like that
my point is: is all i have to do is make reservations for them, walk their pets, order food and take it to them, make them happy? is that just it or is there more to it?

Yes you can, don’t worry about the spellings, Microsoft word is always there to help you out ;)

If you’re very lucky and you can prove that you can do it.

In theory you would need to know about the field (line of work) of the person you hope to be working for as their assistant. Being a personal assistant is more then just running errands.

I am not saying you need a degree but having one would not hurt and will always help. Take classes on people skills. Learn how to talk to people on the phone. (By the way talking to people on the phone is a art in and out of it self) Take office management classes. Take sales classes. The more you know the better off you will show yourself. Have the I can attitude and dress for success.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide to do

Sorry but I am going to disagree with Cookie. Spelling is very important. I do agree with you about spell check, and use it myself. However, sorry to say it only works if you use it.

Note: Yahoo has spell check. Sadly it is not used much.
